Travel context

Entry and documents
US citizens need a valid passport; no visa for tourism or medical care up to 180 days. Land crossings to border clinics need the same passport, and the FMM tourist form if you go beyond the border zone.
Money
The peso is the local currency. Hospitals quote and accept US dollars for packages, but pay by card: exchanging cash at the airport costs you the worst rate of the trip.
Language
Spanish. International patient offices at the listed hospitals work in English; ward staff often does not. Ask for an interpreter at consent.
Flights and getting around
Guadalajara, Monterrey and Tijuana all have direct flights from major US hubs. Use hospital transfers or app-based rides rather than hailing on the street; it is the same advice locals give.
When to go
Year round. May to October is the rainy season in the interior, which mostly means afternoon showers, not cancelled surgery.
Care landscape
The state health authority licenses the facility; several hospitals also hold JCI. Recovery lodging near the hospital is easy to find and cheap by US standards.
